Have you been feeling fatigued at work lately? Do you notice that this is detrimental to your effectiveness? Unfortunately, you are not the only one! In 2020, 1.2 million Dutch people reported suffering from burnout symptoms. On top of that came the corona crisis. Now that the crisis is primarily behind us, employees are asked even more, which can bring a lot of stress. Do you sometimes feel less energetic? Unfortunately, you're not the only one. These tips will get you back to your old self in no time!
Get out the door 🌤️
Do you feel stressed at night? Stress causes the production of cortisol, which makes it harder to relax in the evening. Sleep and stress are inextricably linked. Those who sleep poorly will have trouble concentrating on work. How do we solve that? With a short walk! By going out during the day, you are exposed to sunlight. This has a positive influence on your sleep. Sunlight causes your body to produce more melatonin, a hormone that makes you sleepy in the evening.
Eliminate distractions 📵
Distractions are one of the biggest threats to your work. As tempting as it may be, looking at your phone or social media every 10 minutes will degrade your concentration. Turning off social media increases productivity and can indirectly save a lot of work stress. How do we eliminate the distractions without needing willpower? For example, put your phone on aeroplane mode, block notifications from social media apps or use a website blocker on your PC!
Close your work at the end of the day 👨💻
A good work-life balance is essential to being able to unwind. By turning off your computer at the end of your day, you will no longer be distracted by work-related issues. This will keep your mind calm and make you less susceptible to work stress. Does the PC turn off? Then it's time for something else. What are you going to do for fun?
